Let’s talk about Texas for a second. The Lone Star State just pulled the trigger on House Bill 7, a law that doesn’t just take a swing at the abortion pill—it goes full Wild West with lawsuits, cash rewards, and enough legal drama to make even Judge Judy blush. (LifeSiteNews)
So What Does the Law Actually Do?
Here’s the gist: if you’re caught manufacturing, mailing, or distributing abortion-inducing drugs like mifepristone or misoprostol into Texas, you’re fair game for a lawsuit. We’re not talking about a slap on the wrist here—think $100,000 lawsuits, plus court costs. And no, women who actually take the pills aren’t the targets. Instead, Texas is going after everyone else in the chain—providers, shippers, maybe even your neighborhood telehealth doc. (LifeSiteNews)
It’s About Time
Some might feel this is a whole lot like vigilante justice, but I disagree. With this new law in place, those who are making these pills — which kill pre-born babies and sometimes the mother too — these individuals make themselves criminals. And since God tells us in Romans 13 that the government bears the sword on God’s behalf, and preventing murder is a just law, these folks need to be brought down.
Big Picture: Shield Laws, Showdowns, and Chaos Ahead
Of course, it doesn’t stop at Texas. Blue states already passed “shield laws” to protect providers who send the abortion pill across state lines. HB 7 basically dares them to test that in court. Translation? We’re heading for an interstate legal battle bigger than a Friday night football game in Dallas. (LifeSiteNews)
Mike’s Take
According to St. Pope John Paul II’s encyclical, “Evangelium Vitae,” The Gospel of life is at the heart of Jesus’ message. Lovingly received day after day by the Church, it is to be preached with dauntless fidelity as ‘good news’ to the people of every age and culture.”
Every age includes those who are in the womb. At the moment of conception, these new souls came into being, made in the image of their Creator, having inherent worth and infinite value. They have rights too. The same ones God gives to all human beings. Which means it’s our responsibility to ensure their rights are protected from those under the influence of sinful desires and the Enemy’s agenda.
One of the greatest weapons we have in our arsenal is legislation. Every state in the Union needs to follow the lead of Texas and create bills banning this poison.
The encyclical then says, “In the proclamation of this Gospel, we must be unconditionally pro-life.”
Unconditionally. In other words, we are to be pro-life through and through without exception. Without. Exception.
And as far as having folks like bounty hunters enforcing the law, the Catechism of the Catholic Church, in section 1898, says, “Every human community needs an authority to govern it. The foundation of such authority lies in human nature. It is necessary for the unity of the state. Its role is to ensure as far as possible the common good of the society.”
The law allows bounty hunters to enforce the law. If you don’t want to be targeted, then don’t try to make a fortune by shedding the blood of innocent children.
